This survey and awards program is dedicated to identifying and recognizing the area’s best employers and providing organizations with valuable employee feedback. Winners were recognized at a virtual event in June 2021.
2020 Nonprofit Innovation Lab
Social Enterprise Greenhouse and United Way of Rhode Island
The College Crusade won the second-place award and $25,000 in this initiative that provided 10 nonprofits with training, community and funding to foster innovative and sustainable solutions designed for social impact. Our project was initiating new programs and supports tailored to meet the needs of students impacted by COVID-19 for whom a “gap” in their college studies could easily become a “trap” as they seek to achieve social and economic mobility.
2019 Business Excellence at a Social Service Agency
Providence Business News
The College Crusade was the recipient of a 2019 Business Excellence Award from the Providence Business News and was honored at an awards dinner in November 2019. The event, which is sponsored by one of the region’s longest-running and best-known business recognition programs, showcases organizations and individuals from across the state for their excellence, leadership and community involvement.
2019 Community Leadership Award
Rhode Island Foundation
The Rhode Island Foundation, one of the oldest and largest community foundations in the country, honored the College Crusade with the Community Leadership Award at its 2019 Annual Meeting on May 16 at the Rhode Island Convention Center.
2018 Examples of Excelencia Award
Excelencia in Education
The College Crusade was named a 2018 Examples of Excelencia award winner. The award spotlights outstanding programs that have shown evidence-based results in improving Latino student success in higher education. Presented by Excelencia in Education, based in Washington, D.C., Examples of Excelencia is the only national initiative recognizing and celebrating programs at the forefront of advancing educational achievement for Latino students.
2016 Khanfidence Builder Award
National College Access Network
The College Crusade was awarded the 2016 Khanfidence Builder Award from the National College Access Network and The College Board. The award, announced during NCAN’s annual conference in Detroit, “recognizes a college access/success organization for incorporating Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy into their program to build students’ readiness for the SAT and college.”
2015 College Access Organization Award of Excellence
National College Access Network
The College Crusade was awarded the 2015 College Access Organization Award of Excellence from the National College Access Network. The award, announced during NCAN’s annual conference in Orlando, “recognizes the work of a college access/success program that is committed to college access and success so that all students, especially those underrepresented in postsecondary education, can achieve their educational dreams.” To read more, click here.
2012 CollegeKeys Compact Innovation Award
CollegeKeys Compact / The College Board
The College Crusade of Rhode Island received a 2012 CollegeKeys Compact Innovation Award from the College Board and was honored at a luncheon in Boston in January 2012. The CollegeKeys Compact is committed to the belief that all underserved students have a right to an affordable, accessible, and successful college experience. The College Crusade was recognized for demonstrating innovation and efficacy in increasing the percentage of low-income RI students who get ready for college successfully.
