Marlena Rodrigues, Dorbor Tarley, and Jzamilex Ramos mastered the art of fingerprinting during their forensics workshops at our Wheeler Summer Program this month. Over a 3-week period, three classrooms of middle-school Crusaders learned the basics of crime-scene forensics, including blood typing, spatter analysis, and footprint analysis. They identified and measured human skeletal bones. They analyzed the contents of a garbage bag, reconstructed narratives from the contents, and shot videos that re-enacted what might have happened.
And just to make sure there was as much suspense as possible, they read and discussed a mystery novel called The Christopher Killer, by Alane Ferguson. Who did it? Sorry, you’ll have to read to the end to find out!
