Lisette Gomes Wins the Cole Scholarship

Congratulations to College Crusade alum Lisette Gomes, who recently received the Eddie M. Cole Scholarship for minority students at the University of Toledo College of Law. Lisette graduated from Central Falls High School in 2004 and then earned a B.A. in Psychology from Salve Regina University in 2008. She is in her second year of law school at UT.

The scholarship award was announced on April 13 at the Thurgood Marshall Law Association’s annual scholarship luncheon, held at the Toledo Club. According to an article in the Toledo Journal,

Ms. Gomes was praised not only for her academic achievements but for her community involvement. She is president of UT’s Black Law Students Association, tutors elementary school children and was active in Haiti earthquake relief efforts. ”I’m sure that when you leave there, the law school will be very proud of you and that you’ll make your mark outside the law school,” Judge Oliver told the future attorney.
