A Book Extravaganza

April 7 was a big book day for Crusaders at our ReadMore literacy program. To start off the morning, Senator Jack Reed paid a visit to talk with them about books and reading. Then a delegation of students presented Senator Reed with a copy of the book they are reading together, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros. And then four College Crusade alums carried in big boxes to each classroom and handed out gift books to everyone! The books were purchased with the help of contributors to our 2018 Book Fund for Kids, which is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the College Crusade Alumni Association.

We were so happy to welcome Senator Reed to enjoy the morning with us, and we thank alums Chris Calderon, Jessica Vega, Franchesca Sevigny, and Lydel Hall for representing our Alumni Association. Congratulations to all our dedicated ReadMore students for working hard all year at improving your reading skills. You did it!
