We’re Writing to Say Thanks!

As we near the end of our fiscal year, we’d like to thank our recent major funders, who play a critical role in helping to make Crusaders’ successes possible.

First off, we are profoundly grateful to two foundations, whose support is enabling us to substantially increase our postsecondary transition and success services. The ECMC Foundation awarded us a grant of $250,000 over a two-year period and The Angell Foundation provided a $75,000 grant. These grants have enabled us to hire three additional College Advisors to provide services for Crusaders at the state’s public colleges and mobile advisory services at the state’s private colleges. These grants are also providing matching support for our RI GEAR UP services for high school juniors and seniors. The generosity of these two new funders, combined with ongoing support from our longtime partners at The Lloyd G. Balfour Foundation, Bank of America, N.A. Trustee, which provided $150,000 over two years, have helped us to raise our support for Crusaders in college to a new level. Thank you for your belief in our students and in our team.

We are also thankful to Cox Charities for their $15,000 grant to support after school STEM and youth development programming at our middle schools. To support our ReadAbout program, which focuses on strengthening critical literacy skills for students performing below grade level, we have received $5,000 from Billy Andrade – Brad Faxon Charities for Children. In addition, Nellie Mae Education Foundation awarded us with a $2,800 grant to support our SAT Test Preparation program, at the request of Dr. Warren Simmons.

Finally, we are so appreciative for the generosity of our partners who have made gifts to support operating expenses. These gifts are vital to maintaining the infrastructure, transparency, and accountability that provide the foundation for our highly successful programs. We received $49,972 in our first year of a 3-year cycle from the United Way of Rhode Island, $10,000 from Bank of America, $10,000 from The Providence Journal Charitable Legacy Fund, and $5,000 from The Harry M., Miriam C. and William C. Horton Fund.

Thank you all for your generous, impactful gifts on behalf of the College Crusade family!
