Thirteen Rhode Island high schools benefited from Crusader leadership projects this spring. We applaud the 214 high school Crusaders who showed their creativity, commitment, and community spirit by leading these activities:

  • A canned goods collection and donation drive, Adelaide High School, College Crusade Advisor: Graciphy Castro
  • Gift baskets assembled and donated to Crossroads Rhode Island, Central High School, College Crusade Advisor: Chris Washington
  • Design and creation of peace ribbons distributed to all students during Peace Day in May, Central Falls High School, College Crusade Advisor: Jessica Rivera
  • Movie night featuring The Pursuit of Happyness, with admissions proceeds donated to the Red Cross, Classical High School, College Crusade Advisor: Alexis Brown
  • Items collected and donated to Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Davies Jr. Career Tech High School, College Crusade Advisor: Bobby Britto-Oliveira
  • A workshop equipping students with the resources to determine “what’s next” for their life and career goals, Hope High School, College Crusade Advisor: Kalomo Vanterpool
  • Monday visits to Alfred E. Lima Elementary School to mentor and read to elementary students, The MET, Peace campus, College Crusade Advisor: Lilliam Abreu
  • Guest speaker hosted for a discussion about anger management and domestic abuse, The MET, Shepard campus, College Crusade Advisor: Lilliam Abreu
  • Graffiti and vandalism cleanup in the school, plus a web page about school pride, Mount Pleasant High School, College Crusade Advisor: Dwayne Clement
  • Benefit basketball game with canned goods admission donated to the Urban League Food Bank, Providence Academy of International Studies, Cooley Health, Science & Technology High School, College Crusade Advisor: Reuben Tillman III
  • Coordination, promotion, setup, and cleanup for the school’s annual International Night, Shea High School, College Crusade Advisor: Alicia Procter
  • Tree planting to increase awareness of global warming, Tolman High School, College Crusade Advisor: Anibal Perez
  • Coin drive with proceeds donated to the Make a Wish Foundation, Woonsocket High School, College Crusade Advisor: Ralph Toribio
