Exploring Art Together

violinsOn June 27, Crusaders and their families celebrated the end of the school year at a RISD Museum Free-for-All Saturday. Their Crusade E-Mentors joined in the fun! They all enjoyed workshops, performances, and the famous museum “gallery quest,” which sends visitors dashing around in search of art objects marked on a map. Crusaders who located all the artworks received a magnifying glass to recognize their status as art detectives! In another activity, participants listened to violin duets performed by young musicians from Community MusicWorks and then drew pictures of landscapes that the music inspired them to imagine. “Everyone had a lot of fun together,” said Carolyn Beltran, Crusade family engagement coordinator. “And they spent a whole day learning about different kinds of art.”

The RISD Museum visit celebrated the finale of another successful year of our College Crusade E-Mentoring Program, with over a dozen College Crusade E-Mentors in attendance. Many thanks to these dedicated individuals, who corresponded weekly with their Crusader mentees, sharing advice and motivation all year: Tania Abdou, Walter Arrecis, Adam Bautista, Leissy Chalas, Kalvin Cruz, Priscilla De La Cruz, Alexandria Diaz, Shirley Garcia, Tania Gonzalez, Emmanuel Mendez, John Periera, Patricia Periera, Gloria Rubio, Carlos Rodriguez, Angel Sanchez, Yisselle Sanchez, and Jillian Zayes.
