Kathy Toro ‘05

kathy-toroKathy Toro ’05 (William E. Tolman High School) earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2009. “I chose psychology because I observe and analyze everything way too much,” she says. Kathy puts her observational skills to daily use in her job as an Admissions Counselor in the office of undergraduate admission at Roger Williams University. “I work with students and parents during the college application process,” she says. “I travel to recruit prospective students, and I love working in a profession I truly believe in.”

Kathy appreciates the preparation for college that she received as a Crusader. “I remember the field trips to various colleges and universities, which helped me to realize the world was much bigger than my community,” she says. “The Crusade opened a window of opportunities for me. In college, there were many individuals who influenced my life in such a positive way. We have memories we can carry with us everywhere we go.” Kathy is also grateful for the College Crusade scholarship support she received.

In her free time, Kathy loves to host potluck dinners and game nights. She creates many ways of reaching out to young people who are just starting out in their education. “I enjoy helping students recognize that there are endless resources they can benefit from at all times,” she says. And she has a special message to all the Crusaders who are starting college in the fall. “Stay connected to everyone you meet,” she advises. “Networking is key.”
