DahianaTorres3.jpgDahiana Torres ’03 (Central High School) graduated from Dean College in 2005 with an associate’s degree in Theatre. She took intensive summer acting courses at Emerson College, and completed her education in 2007 with a B.A. from Rhode Island College, where she was a Communications major and a Theatre minor. Currently, Dahiana works for the Rhode Island Public Broadcasting System and for The College Crusade as a mentor for the Crusade Adventure and Academic Program (CAAP). Her ultimate career goal is to work in the entertainment industry, and she is well on her way towards attaining that goal. In addition to school theatrical productions at Dean College, she has worked with the Black Repertory Theatre in Providence and Mixed Magic Theatre in Pawtucket. Dahiana has also done work in Boston on commercials, videos, and movies. Of these experiences she says, “My biggest accomplishment is obtaining the lead role in the feature-length film Walls Have Ears, which released in June 2008 for the Boston International Film Festival.

Of her experience as a Crusader, Dahiana says, “I loved and still love my Crusade experience. The programs that were offered helped me escape what was, at the time, a rough childhood. I looked forward to the Crusader Fests and Saturday programs. The programs offered to me while growing up really impacted my life and some of the choices I made. Resources were always available to me, especially when I was a junior and senior in high school, to help me with the whole application process. I am also proud of the friendships that were made and the great people I met, especially Josie, my high school counselor.”
