MichaelParillo.jpgMichael Parrillo ’01 (Woonsocket High School) graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 2005 with a double major in Marketing and Business Management. After graduation Michael worked in the insurance industry in Providence for a few months but quickly realized he was more interested in the investments field. He moved to New York City and took a job with Smith Barney, starting out as a Sales Assistant. Michael now works for the company as a Financial Advisor, managing millions of dollars in assets.

Michael remembers the day he got a letter from the Crusade about help with paying for college. “The Crusade scholarship came at a time when I was unsure how I would pay for college and thought the idea was perhaps out of reach,” he says. “I don’t know if I would have missed out on college if it wasn’t for the scholarship – but I do know that, without it, I would have had to work more hours. I am sure that would have had a meaningful impact on my academic performance and focus.”

Today Michael is actively involved with nonprofit organizations that benefit children in New York, including The Children’s Aid Society. “I attribute my interest in such organizations to the help and attention I received from The College Crusade while growing up in Rhode Island,” he says.
