Welcome to Family Engagement

The mission of the Family Engagement team is to engage, empower and educate all College Crusade parents so they can advocate for their child’s academic success and social development and support their child’s readiness for post-secondary education.

We offer relevant, informative and interactive workshops that are designed to provide families with a solid base of knowledge that will support them as they support their children.

Family support is essential when it comes to student success, both in and out of the classroom. Students are much more likely to succeed when families take an active interest in their academic progress and assist them with setting and achieving goals.

Family Workshops

We encourage parents to do their part by encouraging their participation at our hosted Family Workshops, which are filled with helpful information and tools to support the growth and development of the whole child. Our workshops, provided in both English and Spanish, cover a variety of topics, such as:

•  Back to School Orientation
•  Elementary to Middle School Transition
•  Middle to High School Transition
•  Financial Aid Preparedness
•  Financing Higher Education
•  Planning for College Life

At the end of every workshop session, we survey parents regarding the value and usefulness of the information offered so we can continually improve our services to families.

Family Forums

Through our Family Forums, we present opportunities for discussion that allow parents to ask questions, share ideas and gain new resources. Focusing on a single theme and led by our team of Family Liaisons, these intimate gatherings are designed to encourage active participation by all in attendance. Participants leave with confidence that their voice was heard and their ideas were appreciated, and with a concrete understanding of any next steps to take.

Khan Academy @ The College Crusade

Khan Academy is an online math instruction program that is geared toward students who are achieving low scores in math in the classroom. This cutting edge-technology program provides easy accessibility to Crusaders, who can log in from any computer in order to practice their math skills. The online lessons in Khan Academy’s extensive video library teach students how to solve math problems and challenge students to take their own assessments. The program allows easy tracking of how many sessions students have completed and their progress in learning.

The College Crusade is committed to helping families get their children involved in using Khan Academy so they can benefit from extra support in math. We have a customized login for Khan Academy that allows Crusaders to use the program and get Crusade credit for what they learn. We host Khan Academy information sessions twice a month in Providence and Woonsocket to give parents an opportunity to become familiar with the process of accessing Khan Academy online.
