2012 CollegeKeys Compact Innovation Award
CollegeKeys Compact / The College Board
The College Crusade of Rhode Island received a 2012 CollegeKeys Compact Innovation Award from the College Board and was honored at a luncheon in Boston in January 2012. The CollegeKeys Compact is committed to the belief that all underserved students have a right to an affordable, accessible, and successful college experience. The College Crusade was recognized for demonstrating innovation and efficacy in increasing the percentage of low-income RI students who get ready for college successfully.
2011 Business Excellence in a Not-for-Profit
Providence Business News
The College Crusade was the recipient of a 2011 Business Excellence Award from the Providence Business News and was honored at an awards dinner in November 2011. The event, which is sponsored by one of the region’s longest-running and best-known business recognition programs, showcases organizations and individuals from across the state for their excellence, leadership, and community involvement. Business-Higher Education Forum
The Business-Higher Education Forum named The College Crusade one of 35 programs nationwide that are improving U.S. education. The Business-Higher Education Forum, based in Washington, D.C., is an organization of Fortune 500 CEOs, prominent college and university presidents, and foundation leaders working to advance innovative solutions to the nation’s education challenges in order to enhance U.S. competitiveness. New England Board of Higher Education
The New England Board of Higher Education launched the New England Higher Education Excellence Awards in 2003 to recognize individuals and institutions that have made substantive contributions to improving higher education opportunities for New England students.
2007 Kids Helping Kids Award
Adoption Rhode Island
In 2007, a group of high school Crusaders organized a large collection drive for Adoption Rhode Island on behalf of teens waiting for adoption. All together, 26 students from 17 high schools throughout Central Falls, Pawtucket, Providence, and Woonsocket got involved in running the project. They developed a wish list of items that teens need and managed collection drives in their own schools. Donated items included clothing, school and art supplies, personal care products, music CDs, store certificates, toys and games, and other thoughtful gifts.
